This large original mixed media was painted on plywood and focuses on God’s unique word to Jeremiah. The layers hold the short-sighted questions; the colors are rich mercy.
My limited vision of my state or my circumstances is never the full story. This piece came from a Hebrew wordplay in which God provides the young prophet Jeremiah a visual reminder of truth as he faced dark days ahead (Jeremiah 1:11-12). God asks Jeremiah what he sees. Jeremiah answers, “an almond branch,” to which the Lord responds, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.” The words for almond branch and watching are almost identical. The Lord provides a promise in something Jeremiah would see in the midst of chaos.
